The Legion Project was formed to answer a single question — what happens when a man finishes his sentence and has nowhere to go? Our answer is a home, a mentor, a vehicle, and a covenant.
Founded on the cell-block, built on the prairie.
The Legion Project grew out of decades of prison ministry in the Texas Panhandle. Founder Jim Brunton, walked the cell-blocks long enough to know one thing — faith inside the wall is not enough without a hand outside the wall.
We incorporated as a 501(c)(3) Christian nonprofit to bridge that gap, beginning in Amarillo, Texas. Our model is unusual — we underwrite each parolee with housing, a vehicle, and a mentor, and the parolee repays the cost as he reestablishes income. That repayment funds the next man through the door.
We are small on purpose. Every applicant is reviewed personally. Every mentor is trained in person. And every man who enters the program is treated as a son of God first, a parolee second.
A model that pays itself forward.
Parolees repay every dollar expended on their behalf as they regain employment. That repayment is what makes the next placement possible. Donors do not fund a perpetual subsidy — they fund a renewing engine.

What we believe
Faith first
We serve men whose walk with Jesus Christ is already underway. The program reinforces — it does not replace.
Geography matters
We serve men in Amarillo, Texas. A focused field is a deep field. We do not promise what we cannot personally deliver.
Dignity over charity
Repayment is not a burden — it is the structure of dignity. Every man who completes the program leaves having paid his own way.
Discretion in admission
Acceptance is at the sole discretion of The Legion Project. Not every applicant is a fit, and every applicant deserves an honest answer.
