The Program

Structured. Local. Personal.

The Legion Project operates exclusively in Amarillo, Texas. The men we accept move here. The mentors we train live here. The work is local on purpose.

Geographic Scope

Amarillo, Texas — and only Amarillo.

We do not place men in cities where we cannot supervise, mentor, or respond in person. Every parolee accepted into the program relocates to Amarillo and remains here for the duration of the program. The Legion Project is a Texas Panhandle ministry — focused, local, and accountable.

Amarillo, Texas — and only Amarillo.

How It Works

From application to independence

01

Application

Submitted by the inmate, the chaplain, or a TDCJ volunteer.

02

Recommendations

Chaplain and church references reviewed; faith and readiness assessed.

03

Discretionary acceptance

The Legion Project accepts at sole discretion. Not every applicant is a fit.

04

Gate pickup

Upon release, a Legion mentor meets the parolee at the prison gate and transports him to his Amarillo apartment.

05

Integration

Apartment, vehicle, mentor, church home, and employment search are all activated week one.

06

Repayment

As income is established, the parolee repays funds advanced — sustaining the next placement.
